2021 The Terry Fricks Floor Excellence Awards
The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) is pleased to announce its first awards program to recognize outstanding floor installations around the world. Entries will be juried by an independent panel of industry professionals. First and second place winners may be selected in each of ten categories and one Best of Show will be awarded. Awards will be presented at the ASCC Annual Conference.

Eligibility
Competition is open to both ASCC members and non-members. We encourage you to consider membership if you do not already belong.
Photography Requirements
- Professional photography is strongly recommended.
- All photos should be taken from a marketing perspective.
- A minimum of three and a maximum of six photographs shall be submitted for each project.
- The photos should provide the necessary insight into the project’s ability to address the judging criteria.
- While photos showing the overall project can be helpful in defining scope and scale, close-ups of areas are often better.
- Each photo must be at least 5″ x 7″ at 300 dpi.
- Pictures taken at the highest resolution possible are in your best interest.
- Photos may be sent on CD, DVD or emailed to bgarnant@ascconline.org.
- Photos taken with a telephone camera are acceptable for in-progress photos but are not recommended for photos of a completed project.
Declaration and Presentation
Winners will be notified by mail no later than July 30 and awards will be presented at the ASCC Annual Conference in September.

Entry Fees
ASCC members: $100 for the first entry and $75 for each additional entry.
Non-members: $155 for the first entry and $130 for each additional entry.
Checks should be made payable to the American Society of Concrete Contractors and must accompany your entry or register and pay online at ascconline.org/flat-floor-awards.
Terry J. Fricks is the founder and past CEO of The Fricks Company, Fort Worth, TX. The contracting company specializes in industrial concrete floors in the U.S., Canada, and South America. The Fricks Co. is a long time member of ASCC and AC/. For the past 30 years Terry has been a member of AC/ 223 Shrinkage Compensating Concrete, AC/ 302 Construction of Concrete Floors, and AC/ 360 Design of Slabs on Ground. He is an AC/ Fellow, a recipient of AC/’s Roger H. Corbetta Award for significant innovation in concrete construction and received AC/’s Wason Medal for most meritorious paper. Terry has given numerous seminars and authored a variety of articles on topics including cracking in slabs, shrinkage compensating concrete, durability for s/ab-ongrade, Ff and Fl tolerances, and superflat floors. He has received 26 Golden Trowel awards.- In 2006 he was named by Concrete Construction Magazine as one of the ten most influential people in the concrete construction industry. He is also a recipient of the Sam A. Face Award for accomplishments and contributions to the art and science of high quality horizontal concrete construction.
